Dhaka Airport Informational Guide to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC) - Non Official

Dhaka Airport Taxi

Travel time by taxi to downtown Dhaka is about 40 minutes, depending on destination.

Types of taxi

There are different types of taxis: Yellow (air conditioned cabs), black (non-air conditioned cabs) or white.

Please make sure that the taxi you are going to board has its taximeter activated or at least has a taximeter.

Pre-paid taxi

At Dhaka Airport there are pre-paid taxis that run between the airport and other destinations. They are more practical to arrange your trip.

Safety

As a recommendation, if you have any familiar, relative or friend in Bangladesh, ask them to book a taxi for you.

If you are staying in a hotel, ask kindly to arrange an hotel taxi, since it is the safest way to transfer by taxi to the Airport.

Location

Taxi booths are located outside Arrivals in Terminal 1&2 and the Domestic Terminal.

If you get outside the Airport and cross the main road, you’ll find taxis that provide service for 200-300 tk.

Fares

Black taxis start the meter at Tk 25 but we encourage you to negotiate the rate.

On the other hand, yellow taxis start at Tk 40.

Pre-paid taxis have a range fare from Tk 1,000 to 1,500 for a one-way trip to the city center.

To go to Central Dhaka it is more expensive by the hotel taxis than the local ones (one rate should be about Tk 80 (about 20 USD), but on the other hand, they are safer).

Try to negotiate fares since sometimes they want to charge you more than Tk 1,600, which stands for the average fare for this trip. You could agree Tk 800-900 or even less, it will depend on your negotiation skills and the hour of the day.

rideshare

Uber and the local app Pathao are available at Dhaka Airport, being the safest mean to downtown.
